LED Phototherapy in Lytham and St. Annes

How does LED phototherapy work to improve my skin?

Our skin has the ability to absorb light energy and use it to stimulate or regulate essential cell processes. LED phototherapy is the application of beneficial wavelengths, from the visible and infrared part of the light spectrum which have proven skin enhancing benefits.

Skin cells that are energised function better and can renew up to 200% faster accelerating regeneration and repair.

Dermalux® uses a unique combination of clinically proven Blue, Red and Near Infrared wavelengths to boost collagen production, increase hydration, calm redness and irritation and blitz blemish causing bacteria. As the light triggers a whole cascade of skin enhancing processes, the benefits continue even after the treatment has finished.

What does LED phototherapy treatment involve?

Dermalux® is a relaxing, pain free experience with proven mood enhancing effects.

Enjoy some luxury me time as your skin absorbs the energising light to kick start cell regeneration, calm irritation or restore radiance. Each treatment lasts up to 30 minutes and with no downtime you can simply get up and glow!

An intense course of 12 treatments taken in close succession is recommended for optimum cell activation. This supercharges your skin for visible and lasting improvement. This is best achieved using the Dermalux® Flex MD home hire option from Dr. Taylor, allowing you to have daily treatments in the comfort of your own home. Once completed this can be followed with maintenance treatments either at home or in clinic.

Individual treatments are available in clinic or as a shorter duration home hire option. These energise the skin to instantly revitalize a dull complexion, restore luminosity or calm irritation. A perfect boost before a special event or as part of an on-going maintenance programme.

LED phototherapy can also be used in combination with your favourite facial injectable treatments to give superior and longer lasting results or to calm sensitivity. An intensive course is included within the Diamond full face rejuvenation package from Dr Taylor but can also be added in as an upgrade to any treatment or package.

Is LED phototherapy safe?

Using light energy to treat your skin might sound counterintuitive, especially given one of the key anti-ageing lifestyle messages is to avoid the sun’s harmful UV rays.

LED light however does not contain UV rays and therefore does not have the same harmful effects. One of the main benefits of LED light therapy is its excellent safety record. It is safe for all types and colours of skin.

There are certain medications and medical conditions which may increase the risk of a light sensitive reaction when using LED phototherapy. This will be discussed as part of your pre-treatment consultation with Dr. Taylor.

How does LED phototherapy from Dr Taylor differ from machines that I can buy?

There are many LED masks and machines on the market for home use. Important things to look for when comparing machines are efficacy, colours or wavelengths of light offered, FDA approval, design and number of bulbs. Cost is obviously another factor; prices range from a few hundred to a few thousand pounds.

For an LED mask to be effective, it must be at a clinically relevant wavelength, and have a reasonable amount of irradiance or power. Every colour corresponds to specific wavelengths, and it is important that the machine has the correct, clinically proven, range of wavelength. If it is not in range, or mentions a different colour, it’s not going to help you achieve your skin goals. Power of the machine comes from the number of bulbs. For the lights to penetrate directly into the cells, they need to be close together and there needs to be a lot of bulbs, at least 100 or more.

Deramalux® flex is the world’s most powerful in-clinic LED light therapy treatment that is also suitable for at-home use. It uses different settings to deliver 3 different, clinically proven, LED wavelengths through 360 LED bulbs (blue, red and near-infrared). It offers 7 targeted treatments for a range of skin concerns; including anti-ageing, rosacea, eczema, acne & acne scars, muscle, joint and more.

What do the different colours of light mean?

Blemish fighting Blue light (415nm) is absorbed into the skin’s first layer, triggering a natural reaction to destroy the acne-causing bacteria to reduce breakouts. It has a calming effect for problem skin conditions. Blue 415nm is clinically proven to significantly improve/clear mild to moderate acne.

One layer down, rejuvenating Red light (633nm) is absorbed. It energises cells to accelerate renewal, boost collagen and elastin production and increase hydration for smoother firmer skin. This targeted treatment can be used for a host of concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, redness, pigmentation and psoriasis as well as muscular and joint pain.

In the skin’s deepest layer, regenerating Near-Infrared (830nm) offers advanced rejuvenation benefits, promotes healthy skin, calms redness and irritation and helps to reduce pigmentation. It has been proven to increase cell regeneration by up to 200%.
